an american architect, writer and educator, who designed more than 1000 structures and completed 532 works. he is considered america's most natively innovative architect and one of the world's most revered. he was born into a large family of unitarians, originally from wales, in richland center in rural wisconsin in 1867. he got his start in louis sullivan's chicago office. the guggenheim museum in new york in 1959 is one of his finest among many. he was married three times and had seven children; he died in 1959 at age 91.
