Born in Denmark Jan Gero is the son of Erik Aaes and Wilhemina Grünstein, immigrated to USA in 1946 at the age of thirteen. he attended the high school of Music & Art in New York City. With training in MIT, UC Berkeley and Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen for architecture.
His tenure included five years in Copenhagen and Paris; in architecture firms, studying with Étienne Decroux, performing at the theaters Le Petit Marigny and the American Cultural Center as well as in a one-man show in Nordisk Kunsthandel. Returning to New York City, for the next fifty years Jan is a portrait artist, architectural renderer, video artist and published author. Jan has produced and performed in twelve dance concerts.
For ten years a co founder of a fashion company named 52BOND, designing architecturally inspired women's fashions.
thirteen years as a modern dancer creating twelve multi-media concerts named MovingSoundConcerts.
Writing journals, producing three books published in 2012 by iUniverse Publishing; creating journals as audio and video films.
From 2000, spent eight years making documentary films as Jancy Movies Inc with several broadcasts network station Channel 13, WNET, NYC and two PBS affiliates.
Jan has two two daughters and two grandchildren. Salsa and tango are his passion for the past ten years.
